IRELAND'S ISLANDS MAPIreland is the third largest island in Europe and is itself surrounded by approximately 80 islands of significant size, of which only about 20 are inhabited. There are hundreds of other smaller islets dotted around the Irish coast, throughout the Irish Sea on the eastern coast and in the Atlantic Ocean to the south, west and north. Achill Island in Co.
