Calculate population on a map
Population discovery map to enable you to create an area or radius to estimate how many people live in the area selected. This mapping tool can be used to determine a location's population anywhere in the world.
To find your chosen location, search, zoom, and pan the map using the controls provided. By selecting the buttons above the map, you can choose and switch between the Polygon and Radius drawing tools. To specify the polygon's boundaries, click the map. For circles, click on the area to increase, decrease or move the circle position.
The estimated population will be presented once the area has been defined. Please note data for a larger areas needs a few moments to be calculated.

How to Use the Population Mapping Tool
Find Your Location
- Use the search bar or pan/zoom controls to navigate to your area of interest.
- You can zoom in to city level or zoom out to analyze larger regions or countries.
Draw Your Area of Interest
Choose either:
- Polygon Tool – Click multiple points on the map to draw a custom area.
- Radius Tool – Click to place a center point and drag to resize the circle.
You can switch between the two tools using the buttons above the map at any time.
Get the Population Estimate
Once your area is defined:
- The estimated population count will be automatically displayed below the map.
- For larger areas, please allow a few seconds for the calculation to complete.
